Dry-laid, hand-chiseled functional art. Set on a tamped bed of gravel with half-inch joints filled with local river pebbles. Price is $35 a square foot with normal preparation. Demolition or location may increase price.

Whether you prefer a formal sandstone slab step or a more rustic fieldstone or Hoopers Creek option, each step is hundreds of pounds apiece and will be solid for generations. Installation prices vary, Three foot sandstone slab steps are $300 per step. Four foot sandstone slab steps are $400-$425. Hoopers and fieldstone steps vary between two and three feet and are $200-$250 depending on size and location.
